An ECN4 XD server handles decking requests from ECN4 for CHE dispatch. It performs the decking calculation and provides an advised yard position for a container. For example, on certain CHE transitions, ECN4 requests refinement from the ECN4 XD server. If a CHE performs a series of moves to the same stack, but does them out of order, the ECN4 XD server provides refinements to the work instructions so that the slots and tiers are physically possible.
Additionally, if a container is planned to a need-to-deck position (for example, the EC or FailToDeck logical blocks), the ECN4 XD server attempts to redeck it to a valid position. If that redecking is not possible, dispatch is not allowed.
Once defined, the ECN4 XD server is visible in the Cluster Services view in N4 (Administration
System
Cluster Services
Cluster Services view).
If the ECN4 XD server is not defined, XPS must provide all support for decking instead of being a backup decker, which impacts performance. Therefore, Navis recommends that all but the smallest ECN4 terminals deploy the ECN4 XD server as a server-room client or virtual machine.
To configure the ECN4 XD server:
Log in as an administrator to an XPS workstation and create a Client Decker group. (File
Groups
Actions
New)
You are free to name a group anything you like. Navis advises that you name it to be descriptive for the function.
From the Groups window, set privileges for the Client Decker group:
With the Client Decker group selected, choose Actions
Privileges. The Privileges window appears.
When you first create a new group, it is assigned the privileges of the Default group.
In the Privileges window, click the Pencil icon
to enter edit mode
and set privileges for the group.
For the following privilege, click the cell for the Value column to toggle the value to ON:
-- DKRSVR - This privilege enables the workstation that functions as the ECN4 XD server.
Assign at least one user to the group. For instructions on how to assign users to a group, see Modify an existing user (on page 1).
(Conditional) The default listening port for the ECN4 XD server is 4016. If you need to change this, specify a new port number for the EC parameter, DKRPRT. For instructions on how to set EC Parameters, see the Navis N4: Equipment Control Administrator and User Guide.
On the host for the ECN4 XD server, launch the XPS client, and log in as a user in the "ECN4 XD server" group (or whatever name you chose to call it).
